collections::fabulous frocks
a handful of my favorite vintage cocktail dresses:
a gorgeous 60s mandarin orange dress with rhinestone buttons.
thrifted for $3.

on the left: a super space-age sparkly silver mini dress, purchased at a local vintage shop. it was a splurge at $40.
on the right: a gorgeous emerald green gown (floor length, i think i will eventually chop it to just below the knee) with amazing jeweled neckline, thrifted for $4.50

a super sweet bubblegum pink & gold 60s tent dress, also thrifted for $4.50

a lovely mustard yellow velvet mini dress with jeweled neckline, thrifted for $6

and this fabulous silver gown (floor length, perhaps will be hemmed to the knee as well), thrifted for $4.50
with stuff like this in the closet, you can't sit back wait for a dressy function to present itself. and stuff like this shouldn't be just for holidays or weddings. do what i do: MAKE the occasion yourself. life is short!
have friends over for dinner and ask 'em to dress up. surprise your sweetie after work with a bottle of wine in the park. toss one on when you're at home listening to old records and windexing your windows. no matter the occasion, it's impossible to have a bad time in such a fun dress! (especially at such great prices!)

Oh wow - those are all lovely, but I'm especially enamoured with the yellow one. Sadly, I rarely see things like this in my local thrifts and, if I do, they tend to be on the "boutique rack" and therefore very expensive, but lovely finds like this always give me hope.

I agree. Here in Portland, OR, where wearing vintage is very fashionable, the thrift stores are always very picked over. And the last time I was in Goodwill, the prices had gone up so high, it wasn't worth it.

hello, I had to comment to say, I love all your fab vintage dresses, I have a few and I never wear them, but after reading this post I might have to get them out to do the ironing in them! I love the photo on your banner too, is that you? you look so cute. I was reading your about page in the shop and I also have a partner who is obsessed with vintage tube pre-amps, in fact I share my home with quite a few (including a 6ft tall 1930's cinema amp - lucky me)!

Oh my gosh. Those are beautiful. I'm a thrift store virgin and have only been to one that was incredibly overpriced. Where on earth did you ever find such gorgeous dresses for such a great price?
