how to beat the heat: freckle-style
what better way to keep from having a heat stroke on a day when it feels like 110 than to hang out in some favorite thrift shops and antique malls? if you can imagine, it is so miserably hot out there that it doesn't even seem appealing to sit by the pool. it is just nasty, folks. plus, i'd pick an hour in a good junk shop over being poolside 9 times outta 10, if you really wanna know the truth.
here are a few of my amazing finds from today:

i'll be back on monday with a fully stocked shop! i've already had a few (slightly panicked) emails (which, i think is so cute) wondering WHAT TIME on monday. i am shooting for early monday, but not too early that my west coast buds don't have a shot at some of the new stuff. why don't we say... noon-ish EST, which means a little after 9 am for you california cuties. if that changes, i will keep you informed. but so far, i am ahead of the game in terms of having things photographed, i just have to buckle down this weekend with my measuring tape and creative copy writing. have a great weekend, everyone! xox

lol. i'll be looking at the site while getting ready for work! i hope i don't screw up my makeup while browsing the cuteness!

lordy it's hot over there!!!! but you're my kinda gal Miss J. Nothing like a cool air conditioned browse through the antique goodies. We just got back from Michigan and it was really lovely...hot, but not unbearable. We also had two thunderstorms to cool things off.
How cute is Henry's Journal, by the way?? Good lord! We were loving it!

I once found 5 years of Pack-O-Fun at a thrift store in Mojave, CA. Best traveling entertainment ever! My boyfriend + I traded off driving + reading instructions. I normally seek shelter from the heat at the movies, but there is nothing interesting playing that I haven't already seen.

have you ever bought clothing with an overwhelming moth ball odor? I recently picked up the cutest little dress from the 1950s and a vintage leather purse but they both smell so bad of moth balls and I can't get rid of it. I was wondering if you know of any tricks?

I love the embroidered owl hanging you found! I think the design is by Erica Wilson http://seamsters.net/wp-content/uploads/2006/08/8.13_erica_wilson_chair.jpg which makes it all the more special!

Just wanted to say I love your blog and your shop; you make every single article of clothing look too cute for words! I'm envious of the Pack-o-Fun scorage--I just got a whole ginormous box of Workbaskets at an estate sale and they have ads in them for Pack-o-Fun, so now I need to find those, too!
