thinking and waiting

so i've been thinking, isn't 40 weeks technically ten months? i dunno. i'm just sayin.
*****
sorry it's been so quiet over here on the ol' blog. truth is, it is taking pretty much all i've got just to get the basic daily stuff done with myself and my family, and maintain the shop. i can't keep up with emails to save my life, and my house is a bit of a disaster at the moment.
the time is near. and, man am i happy about that. this has been a really long haul. thinking back on it all, it's pretty wild how different one pregnancy can be from the last. with henry, i had a really straightforward, simple, easy peasy time. i threw up twice. once was totally my fault, as i thought washing down a bowl of spaghetti with a tall glass of orange juice sounded rather tasty. imagine that coming back up. ew. i also worked on my feet all day long until the last two weeks before delivery.
this time, i can't even tell you how many times i barfed, or how exhausted i was, especially early on. i joke that i slept through the month of september, but if you were around my house at the time, you wouldn't argue with that statement. and there isn't a snowball's chance in haiti that i would be able to work outside the house, on my feet all day long, wimpy as that sounds. my back k-k-k-kills right about now.
i can only hope that one thing will be hold true for both, and that's the labor. i am definitely anxious about it, definitely nervous, but it is so near that i am also excited, and i am trying to remind myself that i did a darn good job of it the first time. with only about 2 hours of pushing, somehow i managed a natural birth which is what i hope for this time.
we shall see.
without getting into the nitty gritty, i had a check up on monday, and things are moving right along, all signs point to baby, if you know what i mean. she has dropped, and i can finally breathe again, which is a treat.
there is a good chance that i might package up all these orders from part 2 of this big sale and go into a bit of hiding until the big day. so if you don't hear from me in the next week, think good thoughts! i need all the good juju i can get!!!
lots of love*j

Good luck Jenny! I will be thinking about you! Please let us know when baby arrives so that we know that all is well. BTW my best friend had her baby girl today and I am itching to get over to the hospital this afternoon. yippe for babies!

It's funny that you mention this now. My best friend is in month 10 and she is on a quest to inform the women of the world of this. She keeps telling me "40 weeks, do the math."
Here's to hoping you both get to meet your little girls very soon!

We're just tickled over here at the prospect of another little Mitchell. For they will become big Mitchells, and that is a VERY good thing!

I will be thinking of you, friend. doesn't the last stretch just feel like FOREVER? I remember it like it was yesterday. and thank goodness you can breathe again. that's something, alright. my second pregnancy was so different from the first-- total morning sickness with ezra, not a bit with ava (and other differences) but if it makes you feel any better, the labor and delivery were pretty much the same. just know I'll be thinking of you! xoxo

I'm almost as excited for your babe as I am my own!
I have had SUCH a different experience this second time around, I wonder too if it is indicative of the children themselves too? Like, is this baby gonna be tardy all the time?!? Because I had an easy first pregnancy too and both Sadie and Henry seem pretty easy going, so who are we giving birth to? Interesting!

Hi Jenny,
Found your AMAZING blog and shop a while ago. Living in Sweden and yet I find we seem to have a lot in common. The strange part is that whenever I go antique or thrift shopping nowadays I find great stuff for you and your shop :). GOOD LUCK with your baby girl. BTW: saw you like Swedish fish - let me know if I should send you the real deal. /Frida, your Swedish reader

I'm with you sister.
Pregnancy is tough, even my first one, and I worked on my feet all day as well. Not a chance I could've done that again.
If I were you, I wouldn't worry about the labor. Especially if you had a nice first one. I've heard, hands down, all across the board, the second one is nothing compared to the first, and it goes by so much faster. I think your body knows exactly what it's doing by the second time around, and this one will go off without a hitch! Good luck and rest easy, I hope she comes soon! I still have to wait over two months for mine....and it feels like I'm ready now.

I agree that 40 weeks is NOT 9 months! I'm in the same boat, but only about half way done, and it already seems like a long road. Best of luck on the rest of it to you! Will think a happy thought for you.
