time for me to cut my shaggy head of hair.
so the question is:
go short with a cute bob? definitely a more polished look- probably more maintenance than i think? my hair isn't naturally straight, after all. but short is good- i've done it before and it's actually a very liberating, cleansing experience to cut off so much hair at one time.
find the middle ground? either of these could be a sort of happy in between- again, the straight look is higher maintenance- and also, i have never parted my hair in the middle, so i'm unsure about that one. super pretty though.
or keep the length, and just lighten it up with some long layers? my boys definitely vote for keeping some length. i also think that going this route first means i can always go back and take more off. but once it's gone, it's gone for a while. half an inch a month is the average, so they say. of course this kind of contradicts what i said about having that freeing chop!
see why i'm stuck?!
weigh in on this, if you care to- and i will make a decision this week and post pics of the winning 'do!
About a year or so ago I wanted the cute shorter bob & my hair isn't really straight either...but I went for it anyways..it really never looked like a nice smooth bob at all. EVER, no matter who much I straightened or dried it. I ended up having to play up the curl/wave even more so......hindsight being 20-20 as it is, I wish I would've layered or went with the middle gorund - good luck to wahtever you end up doing!

I like the Gwenyth length or a touch longer with the layers. That way, if you have some curl and wave, it will still look nice without going all "'fro-ey" but still be cutting off enough to feel like a huge change. I'd gone from long all one length hair to a shorter length with lots of choppy layers and it made it so much easier to take care of. I had them cut it so I had a deep side part and that gave me height at the top and made it thinner on the bottom so I got rid of the annoying bushiness I'd get from my wavy hair. Just my 2-cents! :)

BANGS
I have to say I LOVE THOSE LONG BANGS!!!! If my hair were straighter/smoother I would do it in a heartbeat. SO freakin' sassy. I will say that the girl on the right looks like she has very fine hair (is that Hayden whatser fanny?) and you have luscious thick hair. So I don't know if it would do that, but I think you would look HOT HOT HOT with bangs and a bob. I also love that it's a HAIRDO. I think you need to go to a wig store to check out the bangs. If you do this cut, I would consider getting this Keratin treatment that I did. It's not a hair straightener, per se, but a hair smoother. So like, after I did it my hair was still wavy/curly when I washed it with ZERO FRIZZ. And if I simply ran a curly iron down it, the bangy part got smooth in two seconds. It's a miracle. It lasts 6 months. I'll email you more on this. It's worth its weight in gold!!
MIDDLE PART/MIDDLE LENGTH
I think the middle Gwynnie is weird. Like, it always seems to look good when it's hanging all sexy in their face like that, but realistically i think it would start to piss you off....and when you were cuddling with Dorothy it would be all hanging in her face. The Cammy Diaz seems like a pretty great alternative. I love those damn side swoopy bangs! And it would be a nice transition to see if you like shorter or want to grow it out. Also you can still braid it or pony it. I think Katie Holmes did that before going for the chic bob.
LONG LAYERS
I can not lie. This, for me personally, is my favorite look. I dream of a sexy tousseled mane like these ladies!!! However I will say that everytime I have asked to have long layers cut, it looks messy. Maybe it's my hair (yours is more smooth/wavy) but it has never worked. So hmm, I don't know. Have you had layers before??
OOOOH, what about long with sassy bangs????? Like those longer fringie bangs? Kinda 60s/70s???
OK I'm emailing you about the keratin thing.
You will look gorgeous either way.

Hmm, well I love your hair the way it is now. But if I could pick from the photos above... I'd say the girl on the left in the middle group but maybe longer... or either of the one on the bottom! Any of them would look fantastic, but those are my faves.

I like them all but love the middle and long the best. I want the long but my hair type doesn't work, too curly and unruly.

personal p.o.v.:
i think a short bob is *very* high maintenance!
and when the hair starts to grow back, you get stuck in this weird middle zone where you cant quite deal with it and it can be frustrating
which is why i would prefer to keep some length. and layers. layers are fun!

don't chop it all off!! You'll regret it. everyone who cuts their long hair short always does. plus, having long hair is actually easier cos you can pile it all up on top of your head when it's hot or if you're having a bad hair day. You can't hide a bad hair day so easily with short hair and if you're hair is wavy it will probably never look like those pics.
i'd say go for middle ground (as long as it's long enough to pull up into a ponytail without all those bits hanging out that will drive you crazy!) or layers.

the gwenyth but more layered and little more inverted. i highly suggest leaving long straggly bits which add a touch of edge. i say go for it, i once shaved my head had is was so liberating i think about doing it again. after all its just hair. OR maybe the long layered thing and add a bit of color for dimension. i dunno, cool hair is my thing...do whatever is fun and makes you feel sexy!

Hi Jenny -- definitely photo #5. Nice and long and layered. You're SO lucky to have the fat curly hair that I can only dream about. Love ya -- damudda

matty, how freakin' cute are you that you said "i like the girl in the middle on the left" (CAMERON DIAZ my friend! haha).
I agree with you, I love that one if we're goin' for a change!

alex- i was going to say the same thing.
i love how diplomatic matty was with his little offering. and yes, the fact that he didn't recognize any of those famous faces. HA! that's my feller!

You are a gorgeous woman and therefore will look gorgeous however your hair is cut. CHOP IT ALL OFF I say (not all... but short!) because it FEELS amazing!!! and you'd be so cute. and it'll grow back if you hate it. and if your hair has body (ie. not straight and blah like mine), short can be soooo cute cute cute! Good luck with your decision making. Susanna

Definitely go for it with the understanding that your hair will never be a sleek bob, even if it's cut to be one. Go into it with realistic expectations & enjoy every bounce and wave and curl you have! You have the spirit and personality and expression to make just about any cut work, I think (well, maybe not a Sinead O'Connor buzz)! You might want to wait until summer to cut it too short, though - it is MUCH colder on the neck!! Can't wait to see the new 'do!

i also have waves, and let me tell you that trying to achieve that perfectly straight hair every single day is so much work.
i'm voting for something like the bottom pictures, but shorter. like this... or even a bit longer... http://images.paraorkut.com/img/pics/images/s/sarah_jessica_parker-5716.jpg
good luck!

I have supa wavy hair and recently cut it to my shoulders. The plan was to blow dry it straight everyday, but I actually ended up loving how it looked natural. So I'd go for the bob, best of both worlds, when you have time to be nice & sleek :]

I like the middle ground to long idea with some high lights or layers. Short hair is fun but come summer heat and humidity its nice to have enough to get it off your neck!

Okay
First of all...we are so on the same page.
I want all those haircuts.
I actually did a post about the Gwenyth one and I have wanted that one for a long time now but I love the wavy look better...especially for your hair type.
Keep the length and get the layers....that's my vote....
Now....
what to do with my head of hair???

I've never had the patience to grow my hair out, so I say keep the length. Your hair is gorgeous!

I love your hair as it is (or at least as it looks in your photos!...)
I'm voting for keeping the length! Maybe something between the blond girl in the middle left and the one exactly under her.
